Under the agreement, SNC-Lavalin will provide engineering, design activities, and project support services for the development of the Mishrif and Yamama formations of the West Qurna 2 oilfield.

The company is required to deliver project services in Iraq at the West Qurna phase 2 oilfield, as well as from the UAE.
SNC-Lavalin Oil and Gas president Christian Brown said: “We continue to build on our long-term relationship with Lukoil and to help them realise their projects successfully.
“Once again, we look forward to demonstrating our expertise in the delivery of professional services and our enviable reputation that has been earned in the region for over 50 years.

By GlobalData“We are well established in the Middle East and have worked closely with national and international oil companies and Iraq’s Ministry of Oil on projects across the value chain, ranging from professional services to engineering and delivery of some of the world’s most complex projects.”
Located 65km north-west of Basra in the southern part of Iraq, the West Qurna Phase 2 oilfield comprises three main stages, which are two for the Mishrif formation and one for the Yamama formation.
SNC-Lavalin noted that both the formations require surface facilities such as well pads, oil gathering flowlines, headers and trunklines, a central processing facility and its associated utilities and offsites.
In addition, the required facilities include oil/gas/liquid petroleum gas export pipelines, additional storage tanks at an existing facility, power plant, water intake, and supply pipelines.
Under the West Qurna-2 field development plan signed in April, the company is targeting production of 480,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 2020 and 800,000bpd in 2025.
Last month, Lukoil commissioned a new well pad at the field.
