Cheniere Energy has signed two new sale and purchase agreements (SPAs) for its Corpus Christi liquefaction project in Texas, US.
Indonesian state-owned national energy firm PT Pertamina (Persero) has agreed to purchase around 760,000t of LNG a year from the project, in addition to the 760,000 a year deal the company signed in December 2013. Pertamina’s latest agreement has a term of 20 years once Train 2 begins operations, and an extension option of up to 10 years.
In a separate deal, Woodside Energy Trading Singapore has agreed to purchase around 850,000t a year of liquefied natural gas from the project.
The project is being designed and permitted for up to three trains, with aggregate design production capacity of 13.5 million tonnes of LNG a year. It will feature three LNG storage tanks with capacity of 10.1 billion cubic feet equivalent and two LNG carrier docks.
Cheniere Energy chairman and CEO Charif Souki said that to date the company has entered into SPAs aggregating around 7 million tonnes a year of LNG volumes, completing its long-term contracting for the first two trains of the Corpus Christi Liquefaction project.
"We expect to complete all remaining necessary steps to reach a final investment decision and begin construction by early 2015," Souki added.
