Eni

Italian energy firm Eni has secured three permits from Algerian state hydrocarbon firm Sonatrach for prospection work in the southern part of the country.

The company will undertake studies and drill exploration wells on the El Guefoul, Tinerkouk and Terfas permits which cover 46,837km² in the Timimoun and Oued Mya basins onshore southern Algeria.

The National Agency for the Promotion of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) issued the permits, which are valid for two years.

Eni will act as operator for the permits while Sonatrach will serve as partner. Eni has been present in Algeria since 1981, and the latest permits add to the company’s existing 32 licences in the country, of which 29 are producing and three are under development.

Eni currently has daily equity production of around 125,000 barrels of oil equivalent. It employs around 82,300 people in 85 countries globally.
