Drill

Gulfsands Petroleum has resumed drilling at the Lalla Yetou Updip-1 gas exploration well in Morocco.

The well, which has a targeted vertical depth of around 1,180m, is situated up dip structurally from previous well Lalla Yetou-3 that identified gas-bearing sands.

The company said that the well will identify the estimated Miocene aged sandstone reservoirs contained within a fault bound structural closure identified from 3D seismic data as having the potential to be gas-bearing.

Drilling operations at LTU-1 are anticipated to take around 28 days to complete.

Gulfsands Petroleum CEO Mahdi Sajjad said: "We are very pleased that the company has re-commenced drilling operations in Morocco and we look forward to seeing the results of this next well."

Gulfsands is the operator of a highly prospective portfolio of oil and gas exploration permits including the Moulay Bouchta permit, which encompasses an area of about 2,850km² and is located to the north of the company’s Rharb Sud permit in Morocco.
