ABB has secured a contract worth $216m from OMV Tunisie Production to deliver a gas treatment plant to the South Tunisian Gas Project (STGP).
Under the contract, ABB will supply the Nawara gas treatment plant (GTP) including gas separation and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) extraction units.
The deal requires ABB to deliver key automation, communications and power components, including the control system and transformers and switchgear to electrify the facility.
ABB said the GTP will separate commercial natural gas from heavier hydrocarbons, which will then be fractionated to produce propane, butane and LPG used in several industrial, commercial and manufacturing applications.
The plant, which is anticipated to commence production by October 2016, will have a design capacity of 2.7 million standard cubic metres per day.
ABB Process Automation division head Veli-Matti Reinikkala said: "The award of the Nawara project to ABB reflects our focus on delivering turnkey solutions for medium-sized plants in the upstream and midstream oil and gas segments.

The project will be implemented in a consortium with Canada-based Thermo Design Engineering.
A joint venture between Tunisia’s state-owned oil and gas exploration and production company, ETAP, and OMV Tunisie is undertaking the STGP project.
Upon completion, the project will allow the country to increase its domestic production of low-carbon gas and its hydrocarbon exports.
The entire project includes central processing facilities at the Nawara well site, a 370km pipeline and a gas treatment plant in the Ghannouch industrial district near the coastal city of Gabès.
