Aker Solutions has received a contract from Statoil to build pipeline facilities at Mongstad terminal in order to procure oil from the North Sea Johan Sverdrup field.

Aker Solutions will also be responsible for developing the associated modifications and tie-ins at the site.

The contract carries a value of Nkr350 million ($42.53 million), includes engineering, procurement, construction and installation services and is expected to be completed by 2019.

Aker Solutions head of maintenance, modifications and operations business Knut Sandvik said: “We are pleased to work with Statoil in laying yet another one of the key building blocks for the major Johan Sverdrup development.”

All pipeline receiving facilities will be developed at the available area in Mongstad complex located on the west coast of Norway.

The contract will be linked with all necessary utilities, control and safety systems.

All six existing oil caverns would be connected with the facilities through a new manifold system, and will help in distributing Johan Sverdrup crude to any of the caverns on the site.

The agreement also includes groundwork and construction of the foundation.

Aker Solutions will carry out the engineering at Bergen as prefabrication to be completed at the company's yard located in Egersund. Aker Solutions' partners will be responsible for groundwork.

During the installation phase, some local companies will also be involved in facilitating the process.

On average, the project would employ around 50 people, and this is expected to double during the project-peak at mid-2017.

The contract will be considered as a part of Aker Solutions' fourth-quarter order intake.
