Australia-based engineering and project management company Amec has won a £75m contract from Centrica Energy Upstream to support its operations in the East Irish Sea.

The contract, which was signed for five years, covers the provision of engineering and construction support services for onshore and offshore gas producing assets.

The scope of work includes project support, core operations and maintenance, and shutdown support for offshore assets and onshore gas terminals in Morecambe Bay.

Amec will begin the project immediately with approximately 100 workers from Centrica’s previous contractor.

The project will be fully transferred by January 2012.

The contract will be managed from AMEC’s Wynyard office, in north-east England.
