Armour Energy has reported that oil production from Emu Apple, part of its recently purchased Kincora assets in the Roma shelf in Queensland, is slated to commence next month.

The company also noted that restart work at the Emu Apple oil field is progressing well and likely to be completed below budget.

Surface equipment inspection and checks are currently in their final stages, including installation of a hydraulic system to operate downhole pumping.

With the completion of these works by mid-August, Armour intends to restart oil production from the Emu Apple field thereafter.

"We are very pleased with progress we have been making at Emu Apple and will be aiming to increase production from this field over the coming years."

In 2014, this field last produced at a rate of approximately 50 barrels of oil per day (bpd).

Armour Energy CEO Robbert de Weijer said: "Starting production from the Kincora assets marks a key milestone in Armour’s transformation from a pure exploration play to an exploration and production company.

"We are very pleased with progress we have been making at Emu Apple and will be aiming to increase production from this field over the coming years, based on the work programmes we are currently developing.”

At present, Armour is reviewing its other oil production assets in the Surat Basin to restart production.
