Dutch company Royal Boskalis Westminster has been selected by the National Petroleum Construction Company of Abu Dhabi, UAE, to perform dredging work for both a new pipeline and a nearby existing line.

Under the contract, Boskalis will dredge a trench for installation of the offshore gas pipeline for Abu Dhabi National Oil (ADNOC).

The dredging will take place over a total distance of more than 50km between Das Island and Ras Al Qila onshore Abu Dhabi.

"Upon completing installation, the pipeline will be backfilled."

As part of the project, Boskalis plans to deploy a medium-sized trailing suction hopper and large cutter suction dredgers, as well as backhoe dredgers for shallow waters.

Upon completing installation, the pipeline will be backfilled.

Boskalis will also backfill an existing offshore pipeline with sand over a total distance of 34km with a trailing suction hopper dredger. This is close to the new pipeline.
