CGG GeoConsulting has received a contract to supply digital well products to the UK Government industry regulator, the Oil & Gas Authority (OGA).
The contract forms part of a broader tender for comprehensive subsurface databases and information sources that will encourage further exploration in specific locations in the UK Continental Shelf’s (UKCS) underexplored areas.
CGG GeoConsulting senior vice-president Mark Weber said: "We are delighted that GeoConsulting’s digital geoscience data was selected by the OGA for the breadth of coverage our well products provide over the UKCS region.
"We expect they will offer significant aid to E&P companies during future licensing rounds and play an important part in helping to revitalise exploration activity in the still highly attractive UKCS."
OGA will use the datasets to perform work across the exploration and production (E&P) lifecycle.
Furthermore, datasets will encourage future licensing rounds at undeveloped discoveries, regional exploration projects, area strategies and asset stewardship.
