A consortium comprising Chart Ferox and PPS Pipeline Systems Germany has been selected to perform engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work for Klaipedos Nafta’s LNG-reloading station to be built at the Port of Klaipeda, Lithuania.
Under the contract, the consortium will deliver equipment engineering, production, installation and commissioning services, along with construct the associated infrastructure for €27.7m.
Chart will offer its LNG technology, and the company’s scope of supply is nearly 50% of total award value.
Five Chart cryogenic storage tanks, each measuring more than 50m in length and with an external diameter of almost 6m, will provide the station with 5,000m³ of LNG storage.
The station will be equipped with two loading areas for LNG trucks and jetty modules for ship bunkering and is expected to be operational within 15 months with full-scope delivery anticipated during the second half of next year.
The LNG regasification facility would be capable to provide 6,000Nm³/h of natural gas.
Speaking about its partnership with PPS Pipeline Systems, Chart Ferox business director Miroslav Cerny said: "Both companies are experts in their respective fields with the experience and pedigree to deliver the project within an extremely aggressive timescale."
Klaipedos Nafta aims to develop Klaipeda as a Baltic hub and virtual pipeline to fuel ships and deliver LNG by truck in order to minimise the conventional dependence on imported pipeline gas.
Last year, Klaipedos Nafta launched a €200,000 joint venture with Germany-based Bomin Linde to operate an LNG bunker-supply vessel at the port.
