Circle Oil has spudded the second well, CGD-12, in its third drilling campaign in the Sebou permit, Morocco.

The well, which is the first campaign in the Lalla Mimouna permit, will test a dipping fault bounded sand lens at 1,021m depth in the Guebbas formation, where several previous discoveries have been made.

It is one of 12 sites selected for the existing campaign, which intends to discover hydrocarbon accumulations similar to the current geological reservoirs in the Sebou permit.

Gas production from Sebou is continuing at a gross rate of 6.8 to 7 million cubic feet per day.

Circle Oil holds a 75% stake in the Sebou and Lalla Mimouna permits, while Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (ONHYM) owns the remaining interest.

Circle Oil CEO Chris Green said: "Circle is very pleased to announce the start-up of our second well in the third drilling campaign in Morocco.
