Decmil Group has secured a $65m extension to its QCLNG Wellsite installation services contract in Australia.

The contract, which extends the existing framework contract with QGC, has been awarded to Decmil’s subsidiary Eastcoast Development Engineering (EDE).

Decmil will now move from the project phase to operational phase. The company will support QGC with wellhead construction, logistics, material management and a range of construction services.

Decmil CEO and managing director Scott Criddle said: "This extension confirms the strong relationship we have with QGC and further demonstrates our ability to deliver projects to the upstream CSG industry.

"The QCLNG project, which has been under construction since 2010, will deliver cleaner hydrocarbon energy for export markets."

"Decmil now has an established mechanical capability and we look forward to expanding our presence in the operational phase of upstream CSG, including in maintenance and other related services."

The project includes the expansion of QGC’s existing natural gas production in the Surat Basin of southern Queensland.

Plans also include the construction of a 540km buried natural gas pipeline network connecting the gas fields to Gladstone.

A natural gas liquefaction plant will be built on Curtis Island, near Gladstone, where the gas will be converted to LNG for export.
