Norwegian oil and gas operator DNO has completed drilling of the Jawhara-3 well in the Sfax Offshore Exploration Permit in the Republic of Tunisia.
The company partnered with Entreprise Tunisienne d’Activités Pétrolière, which holds the permit for the project.
DNO said Jawhara-3 was vertically drilled to a total depth of 2,815m with the Douleb and Bireno fractured carbonates formations proving to be water-bearing in the compartment of the structure targeted by the well.
The company, which identified oil in two other secondary objectives, will carry out additional analysis of the well’s logging and testing results to re-evaluate the Jawhara field’s oil-in-place estimates.
In November 2014, Petrogas E&P Tunisia, a subsidiary of Petrogas E&P, acquired a 35% participating interest in the permit from DNO.
Under terms of the farm-out agreement, Petrogas will pay a part of DNO’s share of the Jawhara-3 well cost, as well as its own paying interest share.
