Enbridge Energy Partners will spend $145m on expanding the capacity of its Berthold crude oil system in North Dakota, US.
The terminal’s capacity will be expanded by 80,000bpd, and the company will add a rail-car loading facility to accommodate the additional volume.
A double-loop unit-train facility, oil tankage and other equipment will be sited next to its existing facilities.
The US-based company has contracted 70% of the rail-loading capacity and is yet to finalise deals for the remaining capacity.
The full 80,000bpd will be in service by early 2013, following an initial 10,000bpd start-up in July 2012.
