Europa Oil & Gas has temporarily suspended production at the West Firsby 7 well in Lincolnshire, UK.
The well is located at the West Firsby field in the East Midlands.
A suspected hole in a section of the tubing led to the well being shut, although there was no evidence of any oil leakage at the site.
A work-over programme is being submitted to the Health & Safety Executive for approval, and the company has arranged for a rig to carry out the necessary repairs.
Europa expects the West Firsby 7 to be back in production early next year.
The company’s average daily production was running at 200 barrels of oil per day prior to the shutdown and is now running at 130bopd.
Management expects daily production for the six months to 31 January 2012 to average 185-190bopd, once the work-over programme is completed on schedule, reports oilvoice.com.
