Gas production has started from the Pelikan field in the Natuna Sea Block A, offshore Indonesia.
It follows first gas from the Naga field, also on Natuna Sea Block A, in November 2014.
Premier Oil operates Natuna Sea Block A with a 28.67% interest. The company’s partners include KUFPEC, Pertamina, PTT and Petronas.
Pelikan and Naga fields will provide further reserves into the Singapore and domestic market under Premier Oil’s gas contracts.
Both the fields together could deliver up to 20 billion British thermal units per day, and will allow the company to increase operational flexibility, on top of the additional volume.
Premier Oil has made several discoveries at Natuna Sea Block A since 1996, including Naga and Gajah Baru in 2000, and the Macan Tutul, Lembu Peteng and Lukah discoveries in 2006.
Apart from Natuna Sea Block A, Premier Oil holds interests in the Kakap offshore asset and Block A Aceh future onshore gas development project, which features around 20 exploration prospects.
