Gazprom Neft Badra has commissioned its tenth production well (P-07) at the Badra oil field located in the Wasit Province, Eastern Iraq.

Following the commissioning of the P-07 well, daily production levels at the field reached 67,000 barrels and together with the other wells at the field it is in free-flow production.

Production volumes at the well now stand at 6,527 barrels per day.

Earlier this year, three other wells were also commissioned at the field, which are jointly producing 24,000 barrels per day.

The company is currently drilling the P-10, BD-2, P-14 and P-19 wells, with construction expected to be completed early next year.

Construction of oil and gas infrastructure is also in progress at the Badra field and construction, installation works for the commissioning of the first line of an associated petroleum gas (APG) treatment facility is 60% complete.

In June this year, Gazprom constructed a third process line at the field’s central processing facility allowing its potential capacity to increase to 115,000 barrels per day.

Based on preliminary estimates, the total oil in place at Badra is set to be in the order of three billion barrels.

The contract for development of the field was signed with the Government of Iraq in January 2010 on behalf of a consortium comprising Gazprom Neft (30%), Kogas (22.5%), Petronas (15%), and TPAO (7.5%), and is expected to run for 20 years.

The Iraqi government is represented by the Iraqi Oil Exploration Company (OEC) and has a 25% stake.
