GE Oil & Gas has secured a contract to provide several compressors for a refinery off-gas (ROG) expansion project at Total’s Antwerp refinery complex in Belgium.
The project is part of Total’s $1.3bn investment to expand and improve the capabilities of its Antwerp refinery.
The $33m contract with Kinetics Technology requires GE to provide the compression equipment to be installed at the refinery.
It will recover significant amounts of hydrocarbons to transfer low-value refinery off-gases into a low-cost petrochemical feedstock.
Total will recover hydrocarbons by processing them as feed streams in the existing naphtha cracker.
The order package includes several compressor applications, including ethylene and propylene refrigeration, as well as saturated and unsaturated off-gas compressors.

GE downstream products and services business general manager Girish Saligram said: "This latest order with Total underscores the intense focus that our customers have on improving the operating efficiency of their plants.
"We worked very closely with Total and KT Tecnimont to tailor the design of our equipment to meet specific operational goals and to package our compressor and driver technology for the project needs."
GE plans to deliver the equipment in the third quarter of 2015 and Total’s expanded ROG facility is expected to start operations in early 2017.
