Golden Gate Petroleum has discovered significant oil and gas at the SRH-C # 6H well located in Reagan County, Texas, US.
The well was drilled to a total depth of 9,235ft, with electric logs run over the targeted intervals, and has identified eight pay intervals ranging from 5,220ft to 9,176ft.
The firm identified over 130ft of conventional oil sand along with 1,600ft of rich oil shales interspersed among the sands for testing and fracture stimulation.
Golden Gate has selected Halliburton to run the testing and hydraulic fracture stimulation programme, which will begin in three weeks.
On completion of the drilling at SRH-C # 6H well, the firm will move the rig to SRH-A # 8A and begin drilling operations immediately.
