UK-based JDR has secured a contract to provide intervention, workover and control systems (IWOCS) for Norway’s Aker Solutions Subsea division.
Under the project, scheduled for delivery in mid-2016, JDR will deploy its new ‘Mark II Reeler’ concept.
As part of the contract, the company will supply two 1,200m umbilicals on its new ‘Mark II Reeler’ technology.
The umbilicals offer annulus circulation function to subsea systems.
JDR said that the new reeler design will provide a reduction in size versus conventional reelers to customers and save deck space, in addition to lowering weight for lifting and handling.
The reeler will not have any impact on umbilical capacity and lowers costs due to reduced materials.

By GlobalDataKey safety features of the new design include improved operator access and compliance with DNV lifting requirements.
JDR CEO David Currie said: "JDR has collaborated with customers to create a custom engineered reeler design that provides a number of operational benefits.
"In addition, the new design provides easier access to control panels within the reeler, enabling safer operations offshore. We are delighted to partner with Aker Solutions on this project."
In February 2016, JDR was selected to provide umbilicals for McDermott Middle East’s two projects in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
For the first project, the company provided three umbilicals and it offered seven for the second one.
