KBR has secured a contract to provide front-end engineering and design (FEED) services for Woodfibre’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the district of Squamish near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Under the contract, the company’s office in Houston will be responsible for FEED works, including optimisation, pre-FEED and FEED for the proposed 2.1 MTPA liquefaction plant and export facility.

The work will also include the development of a fixed price offer for engineering, procurement and construction services.
Woodfibre LNG vice-president Byng Giraud said: "KBR is a world leader in LNG engineering and design.

The Woodfibre LNG project recently secured environmental approval from the federal government.
Minister of Environment and Climate Change in Ottawa Catherine McKenna issued a decision statement under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012, stating the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
Woodfibre obtained an environmental assessment certificate for the LNG project in October 2015.
