Malaysia-based SapuraKencana Petroleum Berhad’s subsidiary Kencana HL has won a $211.95m contract from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) of India to provide wellhead platforms for the Mumbai High South Redevelopment Phase-III Project.
Under the deal, Kencana will conduct surveys, engineering, procurement, designing, fabrication, transport, install and commission three new wellhead platforms for the Indian project.
It will include 116km of submarine pipelines and around 7.5km of submarine cables, and the scope of the project includes modification work on existing platforms, which includes sub-sea repair work on three jackets, clamp-on works on two platforms, and D1C pile remedial work.
Mumbai High South Redevelopment Phase-III Project is a part of ONGC’s programme to boost the crude oil and natural gas production in India Western Offshore fields.
With an estimated budget of $1bn, ONGC is planning to expand Mumbai High South in 2030 with the additional capacity of 7.5 billion tonnes of crude oil and 3.8 trillion cubic metres of natural gas.
ONGC is also planning to drill 36 new wells and 34 sidetrack wells for the support of offshore production in the Arabia Sea.
