Kinder Morgan Energy Partners will build seven storage tanks for crude oil and condensate at its Edmonton terminal in Strathcona County in the Canadian province of Alberta.

The company will spend $210m on building the tanks, which will have a total storage capacity of 2.4 million barrels.

The firm will begin construction in early 2012, and the new tanks will be placed in service in late 2013.

Trans Mountain Pipeline, a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan, secured approval from Canada’s National Energy Board to build the merchant and regulated tanks.
