The Planning Officer has recommended the Nottinghamshire County Council’s (NCC) Planning and Licensing Committee to grant approval for UK-based IGas’s application.

The company’s application included a proposal to develop a hydrocarbon wellsite and drill up to two exploratory wells in Misson Springs, North Nottinghamshire.

IGas has addressed various questions, concerns and comments raised by NCC, statutory consultees and others within its application, as well as throughout NCC’s assessment of it, including the different stages of consultation.

IGas said the company has undertaken community engagement alongside this application, including setting up a community liaison group convened in June 2014, as part of its proposal to open and transparent communications.

For more than 30 years, the company’s businesses have been drilling wells and producing oil and gas safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.

IGas is awaiting the decision from Councillors for its application on 5 October this year.

The proposed development is sited within the PEDL area 140, which is held by a consortium of companies made up of Total E&P UK, GP Energy, Egdon Resources UK, eCorp Oil & Gas UK and IGas.

In June this year, IGas’ planning application for a proposed project at Tinker Lane, in the parish of Torworth, was validated by NCC.

The company’s proposal covers works to drill a single vertical exploratory well to assess the geology in the local area and begin assessing its potential for shale gas recovery.
