Pakistan-based Oil & Gas Development has discovered hydrocarbons at the Nashpa 02 appraisal well in the Karak District of Pakistan.

The well was drilled to a total depth of 4,340m to test the oil and gas potential of the Datta, Shinawari, Samanasuk, Lumshiwal, Hangu and Lockhart formations.

The Datta formation intersected 3,370 barrels per day of crude oil and 11mmcf per day of gas through a 32/64in choke at a wellhead flowing pressure of 3,800psi.

Oil & Gas Development expects to receive similar results from the tests of four other potential reservoir formations.

On completion of the testing programme, the firm will determine the full flow potential of the Nashpa well and the extent of the discovery.
