Ophir Energy’s production sharing contract for block R in Equatorial Guinea has been amended and expanded by 46% to incorporate 773km2 of additional acreage.

Ophir’s partner, the National Oil Company of Equatorial Guinea, signed the amendment with the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy.

The expansion brings the total area of the block to 2,447km2.

The additional acreage contains 15 additional prospects with total indicative resources of three trillion cubic feet, including the drill-ready 450 billion cubic feet Tonel prospect, which will be drilled next year.
