Oil and gas exploration and production company PetroNeft Resources has discovered oil at the S-375 delineation well in Sibkrayevskoye oil field, Russia.
The company operates in the Tomsk Oblast and noted that the drilling campaign was carried out to ascertain the sand distribution and confirm the oil water contact at the southern edge of the field.
Based on log and core data, the S-375 delineation well was determined to contain 4.8m of net oil pay, while the S-375s sidetrack well had 14.8m of net oil pay.
PetroNeft Resources CEO Dennis Francis said: “We are pleased with the results of the S-375s well, which confirms that Sibkrayevskoye is a large oil field with better than forecast net pay thickness and quality near the Pad 2 location, which looks likely to be brought into production in the coming months.
“This strong outcome is tempered by the outcome at the initial target well, which will limit the southern extent of the field somewhat.”
It is claimed that the encountered net pay is thicker in comparison with other wells drilled at the northern part of Sibkrayevskoye, which typically had about 10m of net oil pay.
