PIELDS Engineering is to use Intergraph Smart 3D technology to design a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for Brazilian energy company Petrobras.

Tailored for the offshore oil and gas industry, the Smart 3D design solution uses an engineering approach that leverages real-time concurrent design, rules, relationships, and automation.

According to Pields Engineering, it also enables optimised design, increases safety, quality and productivity and lessens project schedules.

The Korean company performed necessary engineering design, as well as the production of all deliverables for the fabrication, installation and construction of the FPSO’s gas compression modules.

Pields Engineering management support team executive Kim Won Jin said: "As the contract required us to not only complete the 3D design work, but also extract all the drawings, isometrics and reports from the 3D model and hand over the up-to-date database to Petrobras at the end of the project, we required a 3D design solution with advanced, automated capabilities.
