Oil and gas company Premier Oil has plugged and abandoned the Gardrofa well in PL 406, offshore Norway, as a dry hole.

The 9/1-1 S well was drilled to a total depth of 2,205m.

Premier Oil said that its Central North Sea exploration drilling programme will now focus on the UK.

Premier Oil chief executive Simon Lockett said that while the Gardrofa well demonstrated the company’s capability to drill operated wells in Norway, it was not an exploration success.

"Exploration drilling will now focus on the Central North Sea Tertiary play fairways with six exploration wells over the next six months before returning to Asia in 2012," added Lockett.
