Gulf of Mexico deepwater project Barataria is planned to come online by the fourth quarter of 2016, according to a report by GlobalData.

Entitled 'US Offshore Deepwater Gulf of Mexico Barataria Project Panorama – Oil and Gas Upstream Analysis Report', the report reveals that Barataria is one of the three discoveries planned to be developed by Deep Gulf Energy in 2016.

The one-well subsea tieback is planned to be drilled by offshore drilling company, Noble, under a $317,000 contract using the Noble Danny Adkins semi-submersible.

"The three discoveries are expected to increase Deep Gulf Energy’s daily production to more than 20,000boepd."

The other two discoveries include Odd Job in Mississippi Canyon 215 and South Santa Cruz in Mississippi Canyon 563. The three discoveries are expected to increase Deep Gulf Energy’s daily production to more than 20,000boepd, with Barataria producing 6,000boepd, South Santa Cruz  an output of 8,000boepd, and Odd Job producing between 8,000boepd and 10,000boepd.

Deep Gulf Energy is using infrastructure at nearby fields to develop the fields and limiting drilling activities. Barataria and South Santa Cruz will be developed as tie-backs to Blind Faith processing platform located in Mississippi Canyon 650.
