The Americas witnessed the highest capital raising for upstream activities globally in July 2017, according to a report by GlobalData.
Titled ‘Monthly Upstream Capital Raising Review – July 2017’, the report estimates the total global upstream capital raising activity in the month of July at $12.9bn from a total of 44 transactions.

The Americas led the activity both in terms of volume and value, with shares of 55% and 47% respectively from a total of 24 deals with a combined value of $6.1bn.
The biggest deal in the Americas was Canadian Natural Resources’ filing of shelf prospectus to issue medium-term notes to raise $2.4bn in gross proceeds.
In addition, the report states the number of deals valued more than $100m to be 16, which accounted for a combined value of $12.6bn compared with nine deals worth $2.8bn in total in the previous month.
