SapuraKencana Energy has made a significant gas discovery from its 2015 three-well drilling campaign in offshore Malaysia.

All three wells are located within the Block SK408 production sharing contract (PSC) area and targeted non-associated gas within the primary target Late Miocene Carbonate reservoirs.

The first well Jerun-1 is located 5km north of the 2014 Bakong gas discovery, and has struck gross gas column of 800m in the primary target reservoir based on analysis of electric log, pressure and sample data.

The second well Jeremin-1 is located 5km west of the F9 gas field and encountered a 104m gross gas column.

"After completion of drilling, SapuraKencana plugged and abandoned all three wells."

Together with the previous discoveries that were made within the SK408 block, these two wells are close to existing infrastructure supplying gas to an LNG facility at Bintulu, Sarawak.

Located 20km north of the Cili Padi gas field, the third well Putat-1 is confirmed as a dry hole.
