Siemens Power and Gas unit Dresser-Rand has received an order from Egypt-based Belayim Petroleum (Petrobel) to supply turbine-generator sets for Zohr field, 200km off the Egyptian Mediterranean coastline.

Dresser-Rand will supply three model SGT-400 industrial gas turbines, including associated electrical generators for the gasfield.

Petrobel is a joint venture (JV) formed by Italian oil and gas company Eni and Egypt's General Petroleum (EGPC).

The order also includes a service package with spare parts supply, as well as on-site maintenance.

The company plans to deliver the turbine-generator sets early next year.

"Our power generation technology will further support the nation's efforts to grow its economy and expand its reliable energy supply."

Dresser-Rand CEO Christopher Rossi said: "Following the major billion-euro power plant order Siemens secured from Egypt last June, our power generation technology will further support the nation's efforts to grow its economy and expand its reliable energy supply.

"Our turbine-generator sets will enable Petrobel to generate approximately 20% more power than the comparable equipment."

Manufactured at the Siemens operation located in Lincoln, England, the SGT-400 turbines will be integral to the supply of electric power to the natural gas processing facility currently under construction.

The SGT-400 model efficiency lowers fuel consumption and operating costs, and enables the operator to sell more gas to its customers.
