Talisman (Colombia) Oil & Gas and Ecopetrol have discovered hydrocarbons in the Nueva Esperanza-1 exploratory well (A2b), situated in block CPO-9, Department of Meta.
Talisman and Ecopetrol are jointly analysing the results of the well, which reached a total depth of 12,056ft.
In the initial test, 309ft of perforations in the T2 formation stabilised at a daily flow rate of 910 barrels of 8° API crude oil.
Both the companies will submit an application with the Colombian authorities to place the Nueva Esperanza-1 well on long-term test.
The companies have secured approval to drill two down-dip appraisal wells, the first of which, Nueva Esperanza-2, began drilling operations on 16 November.
In 2010, Talisman and Ecopetrol have discovered hydrocarbons in the Akacias structure in Block CPO-9.
