Libra Oil & Gas has awarded a contract to Technip for the supply of first flexible pipes for the Libra presalt deepwater oil field in offshore Brazil.
As part of the project, Technip will supply the pipes for the Libra Extended Well Test field in addition to high-end flexible pipes including 8in oil production, 6in service and 6in gas injection flexible pipes.
According to Technip, the latest contract will reinforce flexible pipes suitability for the ultra-deepwater and fluid harsh conditions of presalt fields in Brazil.
The project management and engineering would be carried out at Technip’s operating centre located in Rio de Janeiro.
Technip’s manufacturing sites in Vitoria and Açu, Brazil will manufacture the technological flexible pipes.
Delivery of the pipes is slated to start in the second half of 2016.
