Norway-based geoscience data firm TGS has unveiled two new multi-client onshore 3D surveys located within the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma, US.

The surveys, Blanchard and Loyal, mark TGS’ entry into the Anadarko Basin.

The Blanchard survey, which spans approximately 433 square miles over Grady and McClain counties, is designed to image complex faulting and subsurface targets in the Mississippian via Devonian intervals.

It is situated in the core of the South Central Oklahoma oil play, which targets the Woodford Shale and also covers the recently unveiled overlying Springer Shale interval.

Recording will start in the first quarter of 2015 and will be completed by the second quarter of 2015.

TGS’ subsidiary Arcis Seismic Solutions will process the data and reveal final information in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The Loyal 3D survey, which spans approximately 589 square miles over Kingfisher and Grady counties, is designed to image subsurface targets from the Late Mississippian through Ordovician.

It is targeting the Meramec, Cana Woodford, Woodford Shale and Hunton intervals within the STACK play fairway.

"Recording will start in the first quarter of 2015 and will be completed by the second quarter of 2015."

Recording of the project will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2014. Arcis Seismic will undertake data processing and TGS will own the resulting data.

Preliminary data will be available to clients by the end of 2014 while final data is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2015.

TGS Western Hemisphere senior vice-president Rod Starr said: "TGS’ entry into the Anadarko Basin is consistent with our strategy to identify prolific and high-potential onshore plays where the application of seismic can deliver significant benefits to the exploration and production of hydrocarbons.

"Through these two projects, TGS establishes a solid position in this new focus area with more than 1,022 square miles of high-quality 3D seismic data complemented by an extensive amount of geological data."
