Onshore oil and gas industry representative body United Kingdom Onshore Oil and Gas (UKOOG) and the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote skills and opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
EEEGR is the industry association for energy producers and supply chains, as well as skill providers in the East of England.
As part of the MoU, UKOOG and EEEGR will collaborate on all levels and develop a UK supply chain.
EEEGR CEO Simon Gray said: “We are delighted to be working with UKOOG to the benefit of the members of both organisations.
“The emerging onshore market is likely to be of pivotal importance to the supply chain in the East of England that has been working in the gas industry since its discovery in the Southern North Sea more than 50 years ago.
“Our wealth of skills and knowledge in the industry built up over this period will be of paramount importance to this emerging sector.”
The bodies will also establish a service to stimulate new ideas, technologies and methodologies within the country’s onshore oil and gas production.
UKOOG CEO Ken Cronin said: “With the prominent effects of the downturn in the oil and gas industry, it is critical that trade organisations work together to find new ways of operating with member companies to identify business opportunities and develop new technologies in the industry, which this new partnership promises to do.”
