Commitments under the work programme include a 2D seismic survey and studies. The one-year licence is subject to ministerial approval.

Earlier this year, Woodside Petroleum finalised an agreement to farm-in to Chariot Oil & Gas’ Doukkala Basin assets, offshore north-west Morocco.

Woodside acquired a 25% working interest in Rabat Deep Offshore permits I to VI and agreed to pay all of the 3D seismic acquisition and processing costs incurred.

Chariot will remain the operator with a 50% stake, while the Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines holds the remaining 25% interest.

Woodside said the Rabat Deep permits complement its acreage position in the adjacent Canary Islands and supports its plans to build a global exploration portfolio.
