Trillion Energy has announced that new velocity string tubing has been installed in two wells on tripods Alapli-2 and Bayhanli-2 at the SASB offshore gas project in Türkiye.
The installation was completed last month and took around two weeks, stated the company, which provided the operational update for the offshore gas project.
SASB is a conventional gas field in the south-western Black Sea, comprising multiple natural gas pools in shallow waters.
Trillion Energy owns 49% of the SASB natural gas field.
Since its development began in 2007, the field has produced more than 43 billion cubic feet of gas.
In the fall of 2024, the company completed the installation of new tubing in four wells on the Akcakoca platform.
A total of six wells have now been upgraded with the new smaller tubing size to address water loading conditions.
Despite recent interruptions due to stormy weather, the tripod wells have been undergoing nitrogen injections to stimulate production.
Both the Alapli-2 and Bayhanli-2 wells showed initial positive responses, but stable long-term flow rates are yet to be sustained.
The company is preparing to stimulate two additional wells, Akcakoca-3 and South Akcakoca-2, with nitrogen in the upcoming week, weather permitting.
Furthermore, a gas lift compressor system has been sourced for the Akcakoca platform to aid production by providing continuous gas lifting injection.
In the coming months, Trillion Energy aims to further enhance production by installing a progressive cavity pump in one well and two slim-hole electric submersible pumps.
These artificial lift interventions are deemed crucial for sustaining long-term production rates and optimising well performance.
Trillion is redeveloping the field with a planned programme of approximately 17 wells, which began in 2022.
It aims to have six producing wells by the first quarter of 2025, including five development wells and one stratigraphic well in the field.
