A subsidiary of Savage Companies is set to begin operations of its new petroleum transload terminal in central Mexico starting from January next year.

The company is planning to further expand terminal capabilities in the latter part of next year.

The terminal is located near the city of Querétaro and served by the Kansas City Southern de Mexico railroad and provides access to strategic ports and US-based refinery centres.

Savage Companies president and CEO Kirk Aubry said: “We’re excited to leverage our team’s experience operating transload facilities and rail operations to reduce the logistics costs of moving and managing refined petroleum products in Mexico.

According to the company, the terminal is expected to provide an optimal location for transferring and storing refined petroleum products.

The terminal will initially offer services to manifest rail volumes, transferring products directly from railcars into trucks.

Once permitting approvals are obtained, the company is planning to add tank storage and fixed facilities for high-speed rail unloading, product blending and truck loading.

Additionally, it is said that the terminal can handle unit train volumes at full build out.
