UK’s engineered products and services provider Sparrows Group has secured its first contract to provide rigging loft maintenance services in Qatar.

Under the terms of the four-year contract, the company will offer services for the refurbishment, repair, load test, as well as recertification of rigging lofts and contents.

Additionally, Sparrows Group will manage equipment that will also include six-monthly rigging loft changeouts, provision of replacement or new equipment. The company will also ensure availability of properly certified equipment as required to perform offshore operations.

Sparrows Group CEO Stewart Mitchell said: “This is the first contract of its kind that we are providing in the Middle East region, due to an increase in demand for specialist companies to conduct this work.

“It is a significant award for the business in Qatar and demonstrates our growth in the market. Companies in the region are seeking quality services to ensure compliance and we look forward to delivering this contract.”

The company has set up a new rigging loft management workshop within its Qatar facility to perform the work. It also invested in new machinery and other office equipment and created job opportunities locally.

Sparrows Group will maintain an online web portal to offer a register of the equipment status, store certificates and maintenance records while tracking the location of equipment using RFID tagging. The company noted that the investment into its Qatar facility will enable it to support other clients in the Middle East.
