Tellurian, through its subsidiary Haynesville Global Access Pipeline (HGAP), has launched an open season seeking customers for a proposed 42in natural gas pipeline, part of its previously announced $7bn proposed Tellurian Pipeline Network in the US.

The proposed pipeline links the Haynesville and Bossier shale production region to south-west Louisiana.

To be constructed at a cost of around $1.4bn, HGAP is anticipated to transport up to two billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.

The company expects to commence construction in 2022, while in-service is set to take place in mid-2023.

Tellurian president and CEO Meg Gentle said: “HGAP will connect the Haynesville Shale with growing markets in Southwest Louisiana, where natural gas demand is expected to triple, reaching approximately 12 billion cubic feet per day by 2025.

“HGAP will improve the connection between north and south-west Louisiana, de-bottlenecking existing pipeline routes and providing shippers access to expanding markets.”

“Louisiana continues to serve as the US natural gas market hub, requiring additional infrastructure to efficiently deliver gas from fields in north-east US, the Midwest, and Texas to local and global markets.

“HGAP will improve the connection between north and south-west Louisiana, de-bottlenecking existing pipeline routes and providing shippers access to expanding markets.”

The proposed 200 mile-long pipeline will interconnect with the Midcontinent Express and Gulf Crossing pipelines in Claiborne Parish, as well as to other pipelines in the vicinity of Gillis in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.

The pipeline system is set to connect industrial facilities and other third-party pipelines through multiple receipt and delivery locations.

Tellurian noted that the open season will last until 6 April this year.

In November last year, the company awarded contracts worth $15.2bn for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility, Driftwood LNG, near Lake Charles, Louisiana.
