Total has signed an agreement to use Emerson’s Paradigm exploration and production (E&P) software portfolio to maximise the performance of reservoir subsurface modelling and formation evaluation.
The agreement will allow Total to access the Paradigm SKUA-GOCAD and Paradigm Geolog software solutions, as well as a Paradigm software development kit to enable it to integrate the technology into its own geosciences and reservoir-integrated platform.
Total E&P geo-technology vice-president François Alabert said: “With this agreement, our geoscientists will have improved and easier access to critical technology wherever and whenever they can most benefit from it, while keeping full flexibility in using our own tools as well as alternative external solutions.”
Following the agreement, Total is set to become a member of the new OpenDB Consortium, which is an E&P Software initiative launched by Emerson to build a next-generation database using industry standard formats.
Besides contributing to the design and implementation of the database, Total can assist the consortium to develop future technological solutions.
Emerson automation solutions executive president Mike Train said: “The primary focus of our E&P software business is to help energy producers extract the greatest value from their field assets.
