Canadian upstream natural gas producer Valeura Energy has reported combined natural gas production test results for the Devepinar-1 well.

Located in the Thrace Basin of Turkey, the well has flowed gas at an average rate of 908 million cubic feet per day (mcf/d) in the test with stimulation of all three gas intervals at the well.

The gas flow for the final 24 hours of well testing stood at 462mcf/d.

Valeura noted that the well was tested for more than 20 days in total and the overall average rate was measured at 1,106 cubic feet per day (ft³/d).

According to the company, the collective rate was similar to that seen in earlier tests of the single intervals, indicating that each of the three interval stimulations is in contact with the same fracture network.

Further modelling work is currently underway to fully interpret these production test results.

Valeura Energy president and CEO Sean Guest said: “We are pleased with initial rates from each of the three stimulated intervals and with the substantial data set we acquired through the comingled production flow test.

“The results from Devepinar are on trend with our predictions derived from the other tests conducted in the basin with regard to product characteristics – at this depth, we see dry gas, with no condensate. While every test to date has resulted in gas flowing to the surface, we continue to see the best flow rates at the deepest intervals in the play.

“Further modelling work is needed to interpret the implications of the comingled test results, which will lead to establishing the next steps for our continuing appraisal of the deep gas play.”

Last month, the first gas production test from the Devepinar-1 well flowed gas from depths of between 4,640m and 4,775m.
