Wood Specialist Technical Solutions, Cisco and Roue Consultores have opened a new oil and gas advanced technology centre (ATC) in Naucalpan, Mexico.
The partners intend to showcase the potential benefits of the Internet of Things (IoT) to the upstream, downstream and midstream oil and gas space.
The new facility is expected to simulate, execute and manage the operation and maintenance (O&M) processes of hydrocarbon transportation systems in a laboratory environment.
The centre will also offer access to the full range of Cisco solutions, showcasing how well-managed data results in better decision making and faster overall execution improves profitability.
Wood Specialist Technical Solutions business CEO Bob MacDonald said: “Wood’s deep understanding and experience of the Oil and Gas ATC target markets, such as oil and gas, power, mining and chemicals, as well as our broader integrator knowledge to combine Cisco, Roue and third-party applications into a value-added solution for midstream logistics processes, makes this a perfect partnership.”
Services available at the centre will include the Cisco Connected Pipelines service for pipeline automation, real-time management and new pipeline protections aimed to prevent accidents and identify leaks.
The facility also contains Cisco Connected TAD, which is dedicated to the digitisation of the hydrocarbon distribution process. The integration of flow, fire and explosive gas detection systems will also be available.
Cisco México general director Isidro Quintana said: “It is important that the oil and gas industry innovates. Digitisation can help to work in a safe, reliable, efficient, and secure environment, and the use of data analytics can help faster decision-making.”
