Wood Group, an energy industry-focused consulting and engineering company, has signed an agreement worth $330m (£263.28m) with UK oil and gas producer Harbour Energy related to operations in the UK North Sea.

The partnership has an initial term of five years and five one-year extension options. It is expected to create hundreds of jobs at its operations in Aberdeen, Scotland, and offshore.

As part of the agreement, Wood will provide engineering, procurement and construction as well as operations and maintenance services for Harbour’s offshore assets including the J-Area, Greater Britannia Area, Solan and Armada, Everest, Lomond and Erskine hubs.

Wood will also provide digital and decarbonisation solutions for the Harbour-operated assets, which are said to be critical to the UK’s energy security.

Wood operations executive president Steve Nicol said: “We share a commitment to ensuring safe, reliable and sustainable energy production and are confident our integrated digital solutions and world-leading engineering, operations and decarbonisation expertise will enable Harbour to maximise their investment and ensure the UK continues to have the energy mix it needs.”

Wood said the agreement will “support the employment of hundreds of people”, at its operations business in Aberdeen and offshore.

The company expects to commence new roles recruitment in 2024.

Harbour Energy supply chain vice-president Audrey Stewart said: “Harbour is excited to develop our relationship with Wood and the signing of this contract is an important step forward in establishing our suite of long-term strategic partnerships across our North Sea assets.”

In August 2023, Wood secured a contract to continue providing services to UK energy giant Shell’s greenfield and brownfield projects.

Under the enterprise framework agreement Wood will offer engineering, procurement, consulting and project management services to the Shell projects.
