Energy technology services provider SLB and Abu Dhabi-based AI company AIQ are collaborating to advance AIQ's ENERGYai agentic AI solution in ADNOC's subsurface operations.

The initiative aims to enhance efficiency and precision in various workflows including geology, seismic explorations and reservoir modelling, using AI technology across ADNOC's upstream value chain.

ENERGYai, built on 70 years of proprietary data, combines large language model technology with agentic AI tailored for ADNOC's specific needs.

It aims to automate complex tasks, enhance decision-making and optimise production across ADNOC's operations.

AIQ CEO Dennis Jol said: “The collaboration between AIQ and SLB enables the development of sophisticated AI workflows that integrate seamlessly with ADNOC’s infrastructure, driving efficiency, scalability and innovation at every stage of the energy life cycle.

“Our ENERGYai agentic AI solution is pioneering in its sheer scale and impact, and we are proud to involve other significant industry technology players in its development and evolution.”

SLB president of digital and integration Rakesh Jaggi said: “Our collaborations with AIQ have already delivered innovative solutions, and now we are supporting the building of the foundation for the next era of intelligent energy operations together with AIQ’s ENERGYai.

“This agentic AI solution is set to drive long-term value and operational resilience across ADNOC’s energy value chain.”

Initial tests using 15% of ADNOC's data showed a tenfold increase in seismic interpretation speed and a 70% increase in precision, the companies said in a joint statement.

AIQ and SLB will jointly design and deploy new AI workflows, supported by SLB's Lumi data and AI platform.

The Lumi platform is designed to enhance data access, streamline workflows and scale AI solutions, boosting productivity and efficiency for customers.

A scalable version of ENERGYai is under development, with deployment set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.

In October 2024, ADNOC implemented AIQ’s Advanced Reservoir 360 solution across more than 30 reservoirs, enhancing reservoir management and optimising field development planning.

The initiative aligns with ADNOC's strategy to leverage AI for improved efficiency in its upstream operations.
