BKV and Comstock Resources have entered into a preliminary non-binding agreement to advance carbon capture initiatives at two of Comstock’s natural gas processing sites in Texas.

This collaboration aims to leverage BKV's expertise in carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) with Comstock's significant presence in the Haynesville shale region.

This area not only serves the domestic market but also connects to the Gulf Coast and liquefied natural gas export corridor.

The agreement outlines plans to establish CCUS injection wells for permanently storing CO₂ emissions from Comstock's Bethel and Marquez facilities.

BKV CEO Chris Kalnin said: “BKV is proud to bring our proven track record to the table as we deliver innovative solutions that meet rising energy demand while managing carbon emissions.

The companies may extend their efforts to additional locations in the future. While the current terms are provisional, both parties anticipate finalising definitive agreements after further discussions.
