Global subsea cable supplier and service provider JDR Cable Systems (JDR), a component of the TFKable Group, has secured a service contract from Indian multinational company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for testing umbilical cables in the Middle East.
Set to begin in the second quarter of this year, the contract involves the testing of 14 umbilical cables across multiple offshore platforms, spanning two major work scopes.
Critical hydraulic and electrical control systems will be monitored and tested to support platform operations under the contract.
The scope of JDR's work is critical for the safe and efficient operation of the umbilical cables, encompassing monitoring during lay operations, pre-deployment testing, and integration testing.
During the project, the company will provide offshore equipment, technicians, and technical support to ensure vigilant supervision of the umbilicals during the installation and integration phases.
JDR EMEA service sales manager Alan Combe said: “Securing this contract reflects the strength of our service offering and the capability of our team to deliver technically complex service work in the Middle East.
“It’s an exciting region, full of opportunity and innovation, and an important part of JDR’s long-term focus. We’re looking forward to working closely with the L&T team throughout the installation and testing phases.”
Managed from JDR's UK service centre in Newcastle, the project will require technical staff to undertake several rotations offshore for multiple mobilisations to test the 14 umbilicals.
The specialist team will deliver continuous on-site assistance during the process.
JDR chief sales officer Carl Pilmer said: “The Middle East continues to present strong opportunities for JDR, both for our subsea cables and our service offering.
“As we consolidate our presence in the Middle East, this project is a good example of how we’re supporting customers in the region with reliable and high-quality delivery.”
